The temple is located in 48 Bulyounggyegok-ro 48 Seo-myeon, Uljin-gun Gyeongsangbuk-do (122 Hawon-ri) where the beginning of Bulyoungsa Valley along Route 36 National Way toward Bonghwa from Uljin before passing over the Taebaek Mountains. Bulyoungsa is as beautiful as the valley. The temple is luxurious, calm, antique and decent established in Silla. It is a temple only for Buddhist nuns. Its original name was Bulguisa. A legend regarding the temple was described in the¡ºKorean Buddhist Temple Dictionary¡».

Seongnyugul is located in San 30 Gusan-ri Geunnam-myeon Uljin-gun Gyeongbuk at the western ridge of Seongnyubong at Gusan-ri, Geunnam-myeon. Water from Subi, Youngyang-gun flows down with Maehwacheon. It becomes Wangpicheon with Gwangcheon and moves to the East Sea. Meaning 'a place of Buddha', it is called Seongnyugul. It is also called 'Seonyugul', ¡®Taengcheongul¡¯ and ¡®Jangcheongul¡¯. Thanks to its peculiar limestone of Seongnyugul, it is also called ¡®Jihageumgang (Underground Geumgang). It is conjectured to be 250 million years old and its total length is 870m in south to north.



Uljin was an isolated in traffic from the ancient. 12 hills must be passed to get to Bonghwa Chunyang Market place located west inland from Uljin. Thus, it is called ¡°Sibiryeong(12 Hills)¡±. Uljin Sibiryeong is a road of life and culture of peddlers. Peddlers were merchants for 5-day market in Joseon period for economic exchange. It is a road of peddlers from Heungbu Market, Buk-myeon, Uljin-gun to Chunyang Market in Chunyang-myeon, Bonghwa-gun. With rich forest resources, this old road is an important experience place to recognize nature, culture and history.

Mt. Tonggo is lcated in west side of Uljin-gun with 1,067m high adjacent with Mt. Sedeok (741m) and Mt. Jinjo (908m). Diverse ridges are spread with rapid slope. Gneiss is the foundation stone formed in Precambrian period. Water from east flows to the East Sea through Wangpicheon. And water from west, south and north flows to Gwangbicheon, a branch stream of Nakdong River. In a deep forest slope, vegetable, herb and wild plants are grown. While good quality silica is buried, it is not yet developed. There are two climbing trails from Dapwunjae and from Natural Forest. The trail from Dapwonjae has a relatively gentle slope. In Hawon-ro, north east of Mt. Tonggo is Bulyoungsa Valley.

According to a legendary story, King Anil of Siljik in the ancient period cried much because of high hill in his running away by other tribes. Thus, it was called Tonggoksan. As it is very steep, it is recommended to climb with professional climbers. It is 1,067m high which is 70m higher than Mt. Eungbong. Climbing route from Tonggo Natural Forest through peak to Dapwunchi (hill) is recommended.

Mangyangjeong, one of the Eight Famous Spots in the Middle Eastern Part of Korea

Mangyangjeong, one of the Eight Famous Spots in the Middle Eastern Part of Korea It was originally located in the coastal hill of Mangyang-ri, Giseong-myeon in Goryeo, but was relocated in the ridge of Mt. Hyeonjong at Mangyang-ri by Chae Sin Bo in the reign of King Sejong in Joseon. Since then, it was reconstructed in 1518 (13 year of reign of King Jungjong) by Yoon Hee In commissioning to Kim Se Woo the governor of Pyeonghae after the fall in 1517. It was relocated to the current site in Dunsan-dong Sanpo-ri Geunnam-myeon in 1860(11th years of reign of King Cheoljong) by Uljin Governor Yi Hee Ho and county officer Im Hak Young.

It was renovated in September 1959 by the help of Uljin-gun Education in Local which was decayed for a long time in 1957. It was also renovated in November 1979 by Ulgin-gun Office. Then, in September 1994, it was renovated with 91.2 million won.

Mangyangjeong is located on a fine view hill for Wangpicheon and the East Sea. King Sukjong wrote a letter ¡ºGwandongjeilru¡» meaning the best view of Gwandong Area. There are various writings by King Sukjong, King Jeongji, Mangyangjeongsi by Jeongchu, Gwandongbyeolgok-cho of Jeong Cheol and Mangyangjeonggi by Chae Soo.

Mangyangjeong is located along the East Sea from Geunnam-myeon 3-way intersection, Uljin-gun. Seongnyugul is adjacent. It is recommended to visit Sun Rise Park as both are close to each other.
